Our mission

At Alee Disability Support Services, we strive to provide unwavering support, empowerment, and guidance to families navigating the challenges of the NDIS.

We are committed to fostering an empathetic, understanding, and inclusive environment where every ‘little person’ and their caregivers feel embraced, supported, and empowered. We aim to equip families with the tools, knowledge, and confidence needed to advocate effectively, ensuring that every little person receives the best opportunities to thrive within the NDIS framework.

Our mission is rooted in empathy, lived experience, and a deep commitment to transforming challenges into avenues for growth, understanding, and empowerment for every family we serve.

What makes us different

At Alee Disability Support Services, we’re more than a support network—we’re a safe space within the complex world of disability policies and hurdles.

Our values are what makes us different, shaping our empathetic approach to support and care.

Integrity

At Alee, every decision we make is rooted in a sincere desire to do what’s best for you and your family. We promise to be transparent, honest, and true in all our interactions.

Loyalty

Our commitment to your family goes beyond our services. We see your family as an extension of our own and we’re dedicated to supporting every step of your journey.

Empowerment

We believe knowledge is power. The support we offer goes beyond service provision, to empower you with the tools and confidence to navigate the NDIS with a sense of ownership and control.

Community

At Alee Disability, we’re not just a service provider; we’re a community. We foster connections, offer a nurturing space, and strive to be the supportive embrace every family needs. We believe every family deserves a space to be heard, empowered and accepted – a place that feels like home.

Compassion

Our approach is always led with compassion. We understand the ups and downs of your journey because we’ve been there, too. In Alee, you’ll find a place of comfort, understanding, and care; a place where people genuinely care about your wellbeing.

Meet our founder, Hayley

Hayley is the heart behind Alee Disability Support Services, bringing a deep understanding and lived experience to support parents of children with a disability.

Hayely’s early career saw her working with victims of crime and later focusing on early childhood development. She and her husband Dave had two little girls, Maggie and Aria.

Then, Pippa was born with Wiedemann-Steiner syndrome – a rare genetic condition which means Pippa has difficulty swallowing, floppy muscles, terrible sleep, intellectual delay and big feelings.

The early days were filled with uncertainty, especially within the maze of the NDIS. There seemed to be no consistency, and differing responses to crucial questions added to the confusion.

The turning point

In June 2021, life became even more complicated when Hayley was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Facing major surgery, a 12-week treatment regimen. At the same time, Pippa had just undergone surgery to place a feeding tube in her tummy and required extensive care.

Hayley sought assistance from NDIS, but the support she needed wasn’t readily available. In Hayley’s words, it felt like life was falling apart.

Then, someone said they could help. Even though support coordination wasn’t initially part of their NDIS plan, a support coordinator showed Hayley how to use Pippa’s plan more effectively and get the help they so desperately needed at the time.

The support was life changing.

Hayley, her husband and three children now travel Australia in a caravan. It’s because of the support Hayley received and understanding of how to use Pippa’s NDIS plan effectively that they are able to enjoy their adventures together.

“I want to let families know that having a child with a disability doesn’t have to mean the end of big dreams… we can all dream just a little bit.”
– Hayley

The evolution of Alee Disability Support Services

Seeing how one NDIS support coordinator had the power to change lives, Hayley wanted to extend the same support to others. She started assisting other families in her network, which ultimately led to the birth of Alee Disability Support Services.

Pippa’s middle name, Alee, is a blend of two family names: it combines ‘Alice,’ which is both Hayley’s and her older daughter Maggie’s middle name, with ‘Ashlee,’ which is Dave’s middle name and also shared by their other daughter, Aria.

Since our beginnings in 2022, Alee has grown, extending our support to over 120 families. With each passing day, this family of ours continues to grow.

Our impact

I just wanted to share my appreciation right now. I’m so thankful to you and the team for helping us secure the funding and support our family so desperately needed.

Yesterday at [our daughter’s] birthday, our support worker stayed after her shift to celebrate with our friends and family and has truly become a part of our little family. That meant for the first time ever we had an extra set of hands to help wrangle and entertain the kids and could actually focus on the birthday girl and be IN the photos! That is HUGE!

Sara

We have been a part of the Alee family for about 12 months now. Before they came along, I was very much in a position of constant overwhelm and stress and feeling alone, and like I was completely failing trying to navigate the NDIS world for my three boys.

Then Alee Disability Services came along and they’ve completely changed our journey. That feeling we got from the very first time we met them was just utter relief, feeling like we had found that missing link, and suddenly we were seen, supported and had someone willing to fight for us. Alee Disability Support Services have done that and so, so much more.
